This item is a request to approve rankings and execute a contract with WCA of Florida, Inc., for the pick-up and disposal of trash from Regional Transit System (RTS) Bus Stops.
Explanation
The Purchasing Division solicited bid proposals for the pick-up and disposal of trash from Regional Transit System (RTS) bus stops. The process was implemented in compliance with, and as requested by, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Florida Statutes and City of Gainesville policies.
Five (5) proposals were submitted by the deadline. An evaluation team consisting of City staff evaluated the proposals and is recommending the following ranking of the five (5) firms:
1. WCA of Florida, Inc.
2. Waste Pro of Florida, Inc.
3. Florida Express Environmental
4. Tribond, LLC
5. Treasure Enterprise, Inc.
RTS desires to enter a five-year contract with WCA of Florida, Inc.
Fiscal Note
Funds not to exceed $51,707 annually are available in the RTS operating budget.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) Award the bid to the highest ranked responsive, responsible bidder and 2) authorize the City Manager to execute a five-year contract, subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
