This is a request for City Commission approval for the Reichert House Youth Academy to apply for the "Forward Promise Innovation Grants" promoting opportunities for the health and success of young men of color.
Explanation
The "Forward Promise Innovation Grants: Promoting Opportunities for the Health and Success of Young Men of Color" is a new initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that aims to improve the health of middle school and high school aged boys and young men of color; as well as, their opportunities for success in school work and life.
Fiscal Note
If the Gainesville Police Department is successful in the application processes, it could be one of up to ten grants that will be awarded under this call for proposals. Grantees will receive awards of up to $500,000 each for up to thirty months. No matching funds are required.
Recommended Action
The City Commission authorize the City Manager to accept and execute the grant award if received; as well as, any other necessary documents, subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
