This item refers to the adoption of a Vision Zero resolution outlining the City’s commitment to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries.
Explanation
At the April 12, 2018, the General Policy Committee received an update on the on-going efforts related to the City’s Vision Zero initiative. Vision Zero efforts are centered on the application of holistic strategies to eliminate traffic fatalities and deaths including design and engineering of infrastructure solutions, enforcement, education and outreach, as well as policy. Strong leadership and clear policy direction are crucial components to advance Vision Zero goals.
Fiscal Note
There are no fiscal impacts associated with the adoption of the resolution. Staff will continue to work with available resources to coordinate efforts and implement measures seeking to increase the transportation system safety. Staff will request funding as needed for special projects.
Recommendation
The City Commission adopt the Resolution.
