Explanation

Alachua County is considering passage of an ordinance which would raise the age for purchase of tobacco products and e-cigarettes from the current age of 18 to 21.  At present, the ordinance is designed to take effect countywide giving several cities the option to "opt out" if they do not wish to have this ordinance in place within their city limits.

Recommendation:

The City Commission "opt-in" on the Alachua County Tobacco 21 Ordinance
