This Agenda item is to provide the joint City and County Commissions with staff’s responses and recommendations on a 6 point motion approved by the Commissions at the December 10, 2018 joint City Commission and County Commission meeting on Approaches to Reduce Homelessness.
Explanation
At the joint City and County Commission meeting on December 10, 2018, the City Commission heard a presentation on an 11 point motion which directed City staff to work with the County staff, Alachua County Housing Authority, Gainesville Housing Authority and the Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry to complete a report on approaches to reduce homelessness in Alachua County. At this meeting, the City and the County Commissions approved a 6 point motion, a copy of which is attached to the file.
This report includes workgroup responses to the joint City and the County Commissions’ 6 point motion on the approaches to reduce homelessness. In addition, the report includes recommendations to close the entry to Dignity Village, transfer camping services into GRACE Marketplace and develop other SRO/shelter services within the campus. The fiscal impacts of the approaches are included in the responses; however, no direction was given to discuss the budgetary impacts on the City and the County.

Motion 5. Continued discussions with health care system
