GCRA FY2020 Modifications and FY2021 Budget (B)
Explanation
The Gainesville CRA last approved a budget for FY2019-2020 in FY2018 and has been working under that budget and workplan throughout the transition from a statutory CRA to a City Department. During the new district planning and community engagement in the fall/winter of 2019-2020, the GCRA Team worked with city leadership and community stakeholders to create a new reinvestment plan to support a single district and reprioritize its work for 2020-2029 based on the input received. This was memorialized in the “Gainesville Community Reinvestment Area 10 Year Reinvestment Plan.” The completed Plan identifies community priorities organized within three distinct objectives in the “Reinvestment Roadmap”; Economic Development, Community Enhancements and Housing and Public Space and Streetscapes. Within those objectives are specific projects and programs for the GCRA Team to carry out over the next decade.
Administratively, the GCRA has been working with Budget and Finance to carry out the direction to utilize existing TIF funding to pay off its debt and appropriate existing and future funding to match the community priorities as outlined in the Roadmap. In today’s presentation GCRA will outline the changes made to the existing TIF funding and proposed appropriations for FY2021 that will be included with the City’s FY2021 budget process later this summer and early fall for City Commission approval.
