Proposed Fire Inspection Fee Modifications (B)
This item requests the City Commission hear a presentation on proposed modifications to fire fees in Appendix A Schedule of Fees, Rates, and Charges for the City of Gainesville and to provide direction to staff for implementation of the modifications to coincide with development of the FY22-23 budget.
Explanation
Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) is proposing modifications to fire inspection fees that would restore charges for inspections resulting in no violations and increase fees for inspections of large properties over 10,000SF. Generally, fire inspections of larger properties require greater staff time, more follow up and research to complete. The proposed fee schedule more closely reflects the time and effort required to ensure fire and life safety of large properties.

Fiscal Note
The proposed changes are estimated to result in a 31% ($20,500) increase in the billable fire inspection invoices issued.
Recommendation
The City Commission hear the presentation and authorize the City Attorney to draft, and the City Clerk to advertise, an amendment to the Code of Ordinances amending the Fire Fees in Appendix A.
