Section 212.055, Florida Statutes allows charter counties to impose a discretionary sales surtax of up to 1 percent. On September 20, 2011 the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners authorized County staff to proceed with development of a 2012 ballot initiative for a 1-cent Charter County Transportation System Surtax for a period of at least ten years and to begin discussions with City of Gainesville and other small cities and to begin the community involvement process. | Approved as Amended | Pass |
