DEMOLITION OF DANGEROUS BUILDINGS IN THE CITY OF GAINESVILLE

Explanation

There are approximately 100 buildings within the City that qualify as dangerous buildings according to City Ordinance. Due to budget constraints the City has been unable to follow up with the ordinance requirements to remove the buildings.  These buildings are a blight in their neighborhoods and detract from surrounding property values, as well as posing potential hazards.

Fiscal Note

Approximately $1 million

Recommendation

The Commission approve the request for the funds to have the buildings demolished.
