Introduction of the Downtown Strategic Plan Project Team (B)
Explanation
The City of Gainesville recently hired a consulting team, led by MKSK and Gainesville-based EDA, to develop a strategic plan for Downtown, a Top Priority project for the City Commission City Strategic Plan: 2020 - 2025 - 2035.
The consultants were selected via a Request for Proposals (RFP) solicitation process. Ten proposals were received and evaluated by a cross-departmental staff team that included community builders from Sustainable Development, Gainesville Community Reinvestment Area (GCRA), Mobility, and the Office of Capital Asset Planning & Economic Resilience (CAPER). The Evaluation Team ranked MKSK as the top proposer. The City Commission approved the Evaluation Team ranking and directed staff to negotiate a contract with the consultants. A contract, co-funded by the City of Gainesville GCRA and the University of Florida, was executed in late November.
This presentation is to introduce the MKSK team to the advisory board during their first visit to Gainesville.
The Office of Capital Asset Planning & Economic Resilience (CAPER) was assigned to lead this initiative. Staff will introduce the consultants to the group.
