GCRA Housing Programs Update (B)
Explanation
The GCRA opened three new housing-related programs for applications at the start of 2022 in January. These programs are the My Neighborhood, Heirs’ Property, and Home Energy and Water Efficiency Initiative. In total, there will be five programs offered by the department. Each program is a component of a comprehensive strategy to maintain the culture and population of neighborhoods, as defined in the GCRA 10 Year Reinvestment Plan.
The purpose of this agenda item is to provide an update to the GCRA Advisory Board about the department’s five housing programs. This update will also discuss how Staff has pursued marketing and community engagement for the open programs. Outreach tasks accomplished include a press release sent, presentations at neighborhood associations, presentations at stakeholder events, social media posts, and postcard mailers.
With rolling out a total of five first-year pilot programs, the GCRA has committed to reviewing the efficacy of each program with the Advisory Board and Commission before the first anniversary of each. A staff summary and analysis will be presented with recommendations for improvement at that time.
