explanation
STAFF REPORT
 
This petition requests rezoning of the subject property from Alachua County Manufacturing and services industrial (MS) to City of Gainesville Conservation (CON). The requested zoning is consistent with the Public Facilities land use requested in the related petition 21LUC-08PB.
 
This ±2.06-acre property is a City-owned parcel that was annexed in August 2007 and must be brought into conformance with the City's Generalized Zoning Map. The subject property is landlocked and vacant. It is located north of NE 39th Avenue and bounded on the north and east by the Gainesville Regional Airport and on the south and west by vacant land.
 
Public notice was published in the Gainesville Sun on April 30, 2008. The Plan Board held a public hearing on May 15, 2008.
 
CITY ATTORNEY MEMORANDUM
 
The petition and ordinance are simultaneously submitted to the City Commission for approval and adoption because city staff and the plan board both recommend approval.
