Explanation

Implementation of an interlocal agreement between University of Florida and the City of Gainesville will continue to provide unlimited access to public transit to students as a means of commuting to school and reduce the demand for on-campus parking.  Funding for this service is provided by University of Florida Student Government as part of student activity fees.

Fiscal Note

The total amount to be paid by the University of Florida to the City of Gainesville is $349,352.56, which represents .29 cents per credit hour with a total of 1,204,664 credit hours.

Recommendation

The City Commission: 1) approve the Interlocal Agreement with the University of Florida; and 2) authorize the City Manager to execute the Agreement, subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
