Sunset of the Northwest 5th Avenue Facade Grant Program  (NB)            

Explanation

At their May 25, 3004 meeting the Fifth Avenue Pleasant Street (FAPS) Redevelopment Advisory Board discussed the issue of the Northwest 5th Avenue Facade Grant Program.  The program has been in place since September 2002 and has received only a limited response.  The Board recommended that the program be sunset on December 21, 2004.   This would give those people currently in the program time to complete their work and anyone considering the program an opportunity to take advantage of the opportunity.  The FAPS Board will likely recommend a new program to help revitalize the corridor in the near future.

Fiscal Note

The CRA has $39,984 budgeted for Facade Grants in the FAPS district.

Recommendation

Fifth Avenue Pleasant Street Redevelopment Advisory Board to the CRA:  Recommend the Northwest 5th Avenue Facade Grant program be sunset on December 31, 2004.
