Renewal of Mutual Aid Agreements with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, the Santa Fe Community College Police Department and the Alachua Police Department (B)
Explanation
The Gainesville Police Department currently has a Mutual Aid Agreement with the following agencies: Alachua County Sheriff's Office, Santa Fe Community College Police Department, and the Alachua Police Department. These agreements provide increased police resources and cooperation for support to and from each respective law enforcement agency when needed. Each agency recognizes the benefits from the potential use of K-9's, helicopter, and crime scene and investigative assistance from the Gainesville Police Department.
Fiscal Note
There will be no fiscal impact for signing these Mutual Aid Agreements. At the time mutual aid is extended, the cost is typically borne by the offering agency.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager to renew the Mutual Aid Agreements between the City of Gainesville Police Department and the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, the Santa Fe Community College Police Department and the Alachua Police Department, for a period of two years, subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality.
