Second Extension to the Contract to Provide Asphalt Materials and Services (B)
Explanation
On September 13, 1999, the City Commission awarded an annual contract to John C. Hipp Construction Equipment Company to provide asphalt materials and services for use in construction projects and to provide for roadway and drainage facilities maintenance. On June 25, 2000, the contract was amended to include a formula by which the Contractor may be compensated for unexpected and substantial increases in the cost of bituminous materials. In addition, the contract allowed for two one-year extensions. On December 11, 2000, the City Commission approved the first contract extension for FY 2001. The Public Works Department is seeking approval of the contract for the second of two extensions for FY 2002.
Fiscal Note
All purchases will be charged to the appropriate operating budget or capital improvement account.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager or designee to execute the second extension to the contract for FY 2002 to John C. Hipp Construction Equipment Company as primary supplier for in-place asphalt and other materials and services and secondary supplier for picked up plant mix.
