explanation
On April 23, 2001 the City Commission approved a Lease Agreement between Alachua County and the City for the construction, operation, and maintenance of a ten-foot wide paved bikeway/pedestrian access by Alachua County Public Works within the utility right-of-way corridor along Archer Road between SW 75th Street and SW 88th Street. Subsequently, the paved bikeway/pedestrian access was constructed.  
 
The County would like to extend this paved bikeway/pedestrian access to SW 91st Street and has requested that the City amend the original Lease Agreement to include the extended area.  GRU Staff has reviewed this request and has no objection to the expansion.
 
In accordance with the original Lease Agreement, the attached Amendment allows for the expansion of the paved bikeway/pedestrian access, while maintaining all of the original terms and conditions of the original Agreement.
recommendation
The City Commission:  1) approve an Amendment to a Lease Agreement between the City and Alachua County for the use of the City of Gainesville's/GRU's Archer Road Utility Right-of-Way corridor for bikeway/pedestrian access improvements by Alachua County; and 2) authorize the General Manager, or his designee, to execute the Amendment, subject to approval as to form and legality by the City Attorney.
fiscal note
There will be no cost to the City for the construction and subsequent maintenance of the paved bikeway/pedestrian access.
