Retrofit RTS Buses with Wheelchair Lifts (B)
Explanation
This project provides for the retrofit buses with wheelchair lifts, which ensures these vehicles are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Purchasing Division solicited proposals from nine vendors. Two vendors responded with proposals. Coach Crafters was the most qualified proposer at $17,500 per bus. Regional Transit System has $250,000 of Grant Funds available to retrofit buses, which is sufficient to retrofit 14 vehicles at a cost of $245,000. The Contractor will perform the retrofit work at the Regional Transit System garage.
Fiscal Note
Funds are available from a FY 99 Federal Grant.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) award the contract for the retrofit of buses with wheelchair lifts to Coach Crafters; 2) authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute the contract, subject to approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality; and 3) authorize the issuance of a purchase order to Coach Crafters in the amount of $245,000.
