This item involves the approval of an Agreement between the City of Gainesville and the School Board of Alachua County for the coordination and joint use of the recreational facilities at the A. Quinn Jones School.
Explanation
The City of Gainesville's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department utilizes the A. Quinn Jones School recreational facilities as part of the Department's recreation programming. These programs are conducted after school hours and on weekends. In return, the Department provides certain ongoing maintenance at the facility such as mowing and trash pickup. The Department also provides basketball court and playground inspection and maintenance.
The Interlocal Agreement between the City and Alachua County School Board will formalize the coordination of the A. Quinn Jones facility in order to prevent duplication of services, maximize public use, and provide for the recreational needs of the citizens of Gainesville.
