Title
Transfer of Surplus Front-Loading Recycling Equipment
Explanation
The City of Gainesville has front-loading recycling containers for the collection of corrugated cardboard. These containers were purchased with State of Florida Recycling and Education Grant funds. Since the City no longer provides commercial collection service for the collection of corrugated cardboard, it is proposed that this surplus equipment be transferred to Keep Alachua County Beautiful, Inc. (KACB), a non-profit organization and Keep Florida Beautiful affiliate. KACB will continue to make these 4 and 6 yard capacity front-loading containers available to local businesses as part of a private/public partnership.
Fiscal
The original total cost of this surplus front-loading equipment recommended for transfer to KACB was $87,971.00. The estimated book value after depreciation is $2,947.76; hence, the fiscal impact of the recommended transfer of capital equipment ownership is $2,947.76.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute the appropriate documents to transfer ownership of 115 surplus front-loading containers to Keep Alachua County Beautiful, Inc., subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
