Title Approval to Apply for Federal Grant Funds from the U.S. Department of Justice's COP'S Office. Explanation The U.S. Department of Justice has offered continuation funding to the City of Gainesville for its Regional Community Policing Institute. This funding will allow for year two operations of the Policing Institute. Fiscal Note The City of Gainesville will apply for up to $850,000.00 in Federal Funds. No City match is required. Recommendation The City Commission authorize the City Manager: 1) to apply to the U.S. Department of Justice for up to $850,000.00 to continue second year operations of the Regional Community Policing Institute; and, 2) to execute the grant, and any other required documents, pending approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
