Third Extension of the Armored Car Services Contract (B)
Explanation
The City utilizes Certified Armored Service, Inc. of Gainesville, Florida to pick up cash and checks on a daily basis from seven City locations (including Gainesville Regional Utilities). The term of the original contract was for one-year and expired September 30, 2002 but allowed for three one-year extensions. City staff continues to be satisfied with Certified Armored Service, Inc.'s performance and wishes to exercise the third extension.
Fiscal Impact
Anticipated costs are $22,090 for General Government and $4,500 for Gainesville Regional Utilities, unless additional pickup sites are added or additional liability coverage is required above the normal amount due to high value shipments. Funds for armored car services are available in the applicable departmental budgets.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the third and final extension to the contract with Certified Armored Services, Inc. of Gainesville, Florida for armored car services and authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute the extension subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality.
