Title
Resolution for a Joint Participation Agreement for Commuter Assistance Program Funding (B)
Explanation
The City of Gainesville Regional Transit System (RTS) has requested a Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for our Commuter Assistance Program. This Agreement will provide a total of $180,000 for the project, which will be funded on a 50/50 matching basis between the FDOT and RTS. These funds will support the continuation of our Commuter Assistance Program to include development, implementation, operational, and/or capital costs. The Commuter Assistance Program is a community outreach campaign that will serve to increase awareness and modify existing negative perceptions of transit service to specific target groups. These target groups are geographically located in the north and southeast portions of the City of Gainesville and unincorporated areas of Alachua County where fixed-route transit service is currently offered.
Fiscal Note
FDOT has sent a Joint Participation Agreement to RTS ($90,000) on a 50/50 matching basis for the Commuter Assistance Program. RTS will utilize revenue from the Gator Aider Shuttle Service and fare box to provide the local match.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the Resolution authorizing execution of a Joint Participation Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation.
