Title
Interlocal Agreement with Alachua County for EMS Equipment Purchase (B)
Explanation
The State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) allocates funds from the State EMS Trust Fund to the boards of county commissioners to improve and expand pre-hospital EMS systems in their county. The annual amount allocated to each county is proportional to the amount of traffic fines collected in the county as a result of motor vehicle infractions.
Alachua County has been allocated $107,315.00 for 2001-2002. The Gainesville Fire Rescue Department (GFR) requested and was approved a portion of these funds to: 1) enhance Gainesville Fire Rescue's abilities to do effective Search and Rescue, 2) enhance Gainesville Fire Rescue's ability to provide pre-hospital emergency care, and 3) enhance Gainesville Fire Rescue's emergency medical training program. The award provides $36,603 for Gainesville Fire Rescue to purchase specific equipment and conduct training for these purposes, including one (1) Thermal Imager, six (6) O2 Saturation/End Tidal CO2 monitors, Human Patient Simulator Lab, and Advanced Life Support Training Aids.
Fiscal Note
Funds will be received from the County in the amount of $36,603 after the Interlocal Agreement is fully executed.
