Gravity Sewer Rehabilitation Hogtown Creek Sewer Interceptor - NW 22nd Street, and Duck Pond Phase II Purchase Order (B)
Explanation
The Hogtown Creek Sewer Interceptor is an existing vitrified clay sewer main located within easements adjacent to Hogtown Creek. The portion of the gravity sewer interceptor currently being considered for rehabilitation includes a 21 inch sewer main which extends from the 1400 block of NW 22nd Street southwest to the 1200 block of NW 22nd Street, and a 12 inch sewer main which extends from the 1400 block of NW 22nd Street southwest to the 2300 block of NW 8th Avenue. The sewer main has exceeded its expected life and is subject to breaks, root intrusion and groundwater infiltration. The easement area is heavily wooded. Due to the depth and location of the sewer main, there is not adequate area within the easement to allow replacement of the sewer main using conventional open trench methods. In addition to lining the sewer main, the proposal includes the installation and operation of a temporary wastewater bypass pump and above ground force main.
Phase II of the duck Pond sewer rehabilitation consists of an existing 8 inch vitrified clay sewer main located on NE 3rd Street from the 100 block to the 400 block, on NE 4th Street from the 700 block to the 800 block, on NE 1st Avenue from the 300 block to the 400 block, and on NE 1st Street from the 300 block to the 400 block. In addition to the Duck Pond area this project also includes existing 8 inch vitrified clay sewer mains located on NW 8th Street from the 1900 block to the 2000 block and on NW 20th Avenue from the 700 block to the 800 block. The sewer mains have exceeded their expected life and are subject to breaks, groundwater infiltration and potential failure. The sewer mains are located beneath existing paved roads.
