Title John R. Kelly Generating Station-CC1 Generator Step-up Transformer (B) Explanation As part of the new gas turbine installation for the combined cycle repowering of JRK Unit 8 a generator step-up transformer must be purchased. On April 9,1999 invitations to bid were sent to the seven known manufacturers of this type of transformer. Seven bids, (GE, ABB, Siemens, Pennsylvania, Alstom, Virginia, North American) were received on May 14,1999. The bids from North American and GE contained material exceptions to the specification and were determined to be non-responsive Staff and Burns and McDonnell Inc. have completed an evaluation of the bids and have determined the bid submitted by Virginia Transformer to be the lowest evaluated cost. A tabulation of the bid is attached for your review. Staff recommends the Commission approve the issuance of a purchase order to Virginia Transformer Corp. in an amount not to exceed $550,000.00. Recommendations The City Commission authorize the issuance of a purchase order to Virginia Transformer for a generator step-up transformer in an amount not to exceed $550,000.00. Fiscal Note Funds for these services have been included in the proposed FY 98/99 Energy Supply budget. Drafter Prepared by: Douglas C.
