Resolution to Amend Project Description of the Joint Participation Agreement for Urban Transit Capital Funds (B)
Explanation
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) allocates service development grant funds for public transit systems each year. The Regional Transit System (RTS) is currently providing a new route referred to as Route 34. This new route provides service from Butler Plaza to the University of Florida via SW 34th Street. Along this new route there are several major apartment complexes, a major Hotel and Conference Center, the Performing Arts Center, and two museums affiliated with the University of Florida. The objective of this route is to reduce traffic congestion along SW 34th Street and the campus, and to decrease travel times to the University. This grant will assist the University of Florida to fund this service. The grant program requires a 50% match.
Fiscal Note
The University of Florida provides the local share of this program.
Recommendation
The City Commission adopt the Resolution authorizing amendment of Project Description for Urban Transit Capital Funds.
