Explanation
Invitations to Bid for GRU's requirement of #57 stone were sent to five prospective bidders, with all responding, two with a no bid. A tabulation of the bids received is attached for your information.
The Wastewater Collection Department utilizes #57 stone in wet areas. #57 Stone provides stability at work sites when there is a lot of ground water present. Water then can be pumped out, facilitating construction.
Recommendations
The City Commission authorize the General Manager, or his designee, to execute a three-year contract with Florida Rock Industries, Inc. for #57 stone through and approve the issuance of a purchase orders in amounts not exceeding budgeted amounts, subject to the final appropriation of funds.
Fiscal Note
Funds for these purchases have been included in the FY 2001 Utilities budgets.
