Amendment to Interlocal Agreement with the University of Florida for Bicycle/Pedestrian Facility Construction (B)
Explanation
The Campus Development Agreement entered into by the City, Alachua County, The Board of Regents, and the University of Florida (UF) provided the City with $1,000,000 for bicycle and pedestrian facility improvements.
The City and UF entered into an Interlocal Agreement to provide $360,000 of these funds to UF for the construction of three bicycle/pedestrian facilities specified as follows:
1. A bicycle/pedestrian trail to connect the newly constructed Commuter Parking Lot on Hull Road Extension to Southwest 20th Avenue;
2. Pedestrian-level street lighting along the west side of SW 13th Street from SW 8th Avenue to SW 4th Avenue; and
3. A bicycle/pedestrian trail to connect SW 10th Terrace to SW 11th Street across the PK Yonge site.
UF has updated the construction cost estimates for the PK Yonge trail and has anticipated that an additional $100,000 will be required.
Fiscal Note
Funding for this increase in the Interlocal Agreement is available from the Campus Development Agreement.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute the amended Interlocal Agreement.
