Property Purchase at 3829 NW 6th Street - Tax Parcel 08261-000-000 (B)
Explanation
Staff was made aware of a 2.4 acre parcel of property at the corner of NW 6th Street and NW 39th Avenue. This property abuts the existing 39th Avenue Garage and is well-situated to provide for any future expansions or consolidations of the City garage facilities. There is a long-range need to replace the 5th Avenue Fleet Facility. If the property is not used for this purpose, it will provide additional much-needed land for future expansion of other services at the 39th Avenue Public Works Compound. As required by Section 2-435 of the City Code of Ordinances, an appraisal of the property has been obtained. Based upon the appraisal, staff recommends the purchase of this property.
Fiscal Impact
Sufficient funds are available in the Fleet Fund to acquire the property.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve the purchase of a 2.4 acre parcel of property at 3829 NW 6th Street at a cost not to exceed $142,500, plus appropriate closing costs; and 2) authorize the City Manager or designee to execute the appropriate documents needed to facilitate the purchase.
