Background:
The City Commission at its meeting of July 22, 2004, authorized the City Attorney's Office to draft and the Clerk of the Commission to advertise an ordinance amending water base rates and adjusting water connection charges. In the Proposed Budget for the Combined Utilities System, the General Manager made a recommendation to increase non-residential water rates to $1.23 per 1,000 gallons, increase the customer charge to $3.15 per month, apply the seasonal block rates to residential customers on a year round basis and increase water connection charges. The change in connection charges varies by meter size with an overall increase in water connection charge revenue of 3.29%. These changes will be effective October 1, 2004. GRU's monthly rates and connection charges will remain among the lowest in the state.
