title
REQUEST FOR RESCISSION OF FINE AND RELEASE OF CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD LIEN (B)
Ulysses L. Cobb and Delma S. Cobb; Case No. CEB 95-017
recommendation
The Gainesville Code Enforcement Board recommends that the City Commission (1) rescind the fine and (2) release the lien.
explanation
In September 1994, the owner was cited for maintaining a dangerous building as set forth in Chapter 16-17, Code of Ordinances, and taken to the Code Enforcement Board on April 13, 1995. The respondents were found guilty and assessed a daily fine. The fine and lien ran on this property until the required permits were issued in early 1997. However, respondents did not notify the City that compliance was achieved until just recently.
When the respondents contacted the City, the Code Enforcement Officer in the case issued an affidavit of compliance and recommended that the lien be rescinded. The Code Enforcement Board heard the case on March 9, 2000, and recommended to the City Commission that the lien be extinguished.
