Title
Purchase of a Right-of-Way Tractor (B)
Explanation
Invitations to bid for the purchase of a Right-of-Way Tractor were sent by Utilities Purchasing to six (6) prospective bidders with three responding, one with a no bid. The bid documents provided for award of the bid based on the price of the new unit less credits for trade-in tractors or based on the price of the new unit only. Staff determined that it was in GRU's best interest to award the bid based on the bid price less the trade-in credits. A tabulation of the bids received is attached for your reference.
This Right-of-Way Tractor is required to replace two existing units: a 1974 farm tractor and a 1980 mowing tractor which are scheduled for retirement from service this year. The Right-of-Way Tractor will be used for the Vegetation Management Department's transmission right-of-way maintenance and forestry management programs.
Recommendations
The City Commission approve the issuance of a purchase order to Cobb County Tractor Company, Inc. for the purchase of one Right-of-Way Tractor in an amount not to exceed $35,665.
Fiscal Note
Funding for this purchase is available in the Utility Capital Plant Improvement Fund for the Electric Transmission and Distribution Division.
