Explanation
This item requests that the City Commission appropriate and expend an amount not to exceed $52,250 from the Federal Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Fund for the purchase of 16 tactical vests for the SWAT Unit and 3 vests for the K-9 Unit. Currently, the vests that SWAT has will expire on September 30, 2014. Vests are good for five years.
Fiscal Note
Funding in the amount of $52,250, is available from the Federal Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund. Based on the Comparative Balance Sheet dated June 30, 2014, the available balance of this account is $1,074,995.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the appropriation of an amount not to exceed $52,250 from the Federal Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund for the purchase of 19 Tactical Vests.
