Explanation
The Wilhelmina Johnson Resource Center (WJRC) is undergoing mechanical, electrical, ADA and cosmetic renovations. The electrical system is being replaced, the HVAC system is being replaced, all plumbing and associated ADA items are being upgraded, and the interior and exterior are being repainted. Purchasing solicited bids from 52 vendors and 8 contractors signed in at the pre-bid conference. Four construction firms bid on the project. Staff rejected Nelson's Engineering Service, Inc. due to non-responsive bid. The contractor submitted an incomplete list of subcontractors as required by the bid. AMJ Construction, Inc. submitted the next lowest bid at $169,950.
Fiscal Note
$78,000 is available in the Facilities Management multi-year account, and $100,000 is available in the Cultural Affairs Block Grant account both established for the WJRC.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the award of bid to AMJ Construction, Inc. for the renovations of the Wilhelmina Johnson Resource Center.
