Explanation
The Public Safety Committee held four public meetings to discuss the proposal by the Gainesville Fire Rescue Department to prepare an ordinance that assists in the reduction and prevention of false fire alarms, provides for the assessment of fines, inspection and registration of fire alarm systems, and provides certain requirements and enforcement provisions.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Attorney to draft and the Clerk of the Commission to advertise an ordinance, in substantially the same form, as the attached proposed False Fire Alarm ordinance, and remove this item from the Public Safety Committee's referral list.
