Title
Bid Award for Ironwood Golf Cars (B)
Explanation
The Purchasing Division solicited Request For Proposals (RFP's) for a new fleet of electric golf cars to 316 prospective vendors. The RFP was for seventy-five (75) electric golf cars, two (2) ranger carts, two (2) beverage carts and one (1) range ball picker with cage. Three vendors submitted RFP's for evaluation. The vendors were evaluated on price, warranty, parts and service, battery warranty, references and past experience. Information was also requested on a Global Position Systems, as an option.
At a public meeting on May 23, 2002, a panel of four City employees evaluated the proposals. The panel consisted of two golf course employees, one employee from Fleet, and one employee from OMB. All RFP's were evaluated both with the GPS option and without the GPS option. The overall rankings were as follows: 1) E-Z GO Textron; 2) Club Car; and 3) Yamaha. The rankings were the same both with and without the GPS systems.
Fiscal Note
The purchase cost of $195,907 will be covered through a five year fixed loan financed out of the undesignated General Fund balance.
Recommendations
The City Commission approve the golf car bid award to E-Z GO Textron and authorize a General Fund loan to the Golf Course to cover the purchase price.
