Pet Chickens (NB)
Explanation
At the Code Enforcement Committee meeting on March 15, 2000, the Committee discussed the issue of pet chickens. Prior to this, a complaint had been filed with the Code Enforcement office regarding a family keeping chickens within the City limits. Currently, Chapter 5 of the Municipal Code prohibits keeping any fowl in any residential area.
The Committee recommended the ordinance be amended to allow up to two hens but no roosters.

Recommendation
The City Commission : 1) Authorize the City Attorney to draft an ordinance amending the animal ordinance; and 2) authorize the Clerk of the Commission to advertise the ordinance change.
