Title
Award of Bid for Resurfacing of Dwight H. Hunter (Northeast) Municipal Pool (B)
Explanation
Request for Bids were sent out by the Purchasing Division for the resurfacing of Dwight H. Hunter (Northeast) Pool. Bids were received from four (4) vendors. All four (4) bids were evaluated on price, warranty, references and conformance to specifications. Based on these items, Fibre Tech, Inc. was ranked number one at a cost of $40,199. The pool's resurfacing is required due to the development of significant water leaks and black algae on the bottom of the pool, which is a health and safety concern.
Fiscal Note
This was an unanticipated expense and therefore no budgeted funds are available for this repair. The Department is requesting permission to expend the remaining monies set aside for the Westside restroom/tennis pro shop construction, which was part of the GRU lease in lease out proceeds. The $50,000 originally set aside for this purpose has proved inadequate for the construction of the needed facility. Therefore, the Department requests permission to spend these funds for the necessary repair of the pool, and will come back during the budget process to request the necessary funds, based on the bids received, for the pro shop construction project.
Recommendations
The City Commission: 1) approve the use of the remaining Westside restroom/tennis pro shop funds for this purpose; 2) award the contract for the resurfacing of Northeast Pool to Fibre Tech, Inc.; and 3) approve the issuance of a purchase order to Fibre Tech, Inc. for the not to exceed amount of $40,199.
