Add a Half Time Program Assistant in the Cultural Affairs Department (B)

Explanation

Primarily due to service contracts with Alachua County, the department has recently experienced significant growth in grant administration.  Services to the grant funding recipient organizations have expanded in volume, detail, scope and complexity.  Adding a half time Program Assistant CWS pay grade 14 ($26,523 - $34,800 full time annual salary and $13,262 - $17,400 half time) will provide an appropriate level of specialized assistance in support of the department's five grant programs.

Fiscal Note

The estimated additional cost will be $15,500, annualized with benefits.  Funding for this half time position is available from the administrative funds included in the contract with Alachua County.  If this contract were not renewed in the future, this new position would be eliminated.

Recommendation

The City Commission approve adding a half time Program Assistant in Cultural Affairs.
