Title
Lake Meta Neighborhood Issues (B)
Explanation
At the Public Works Committee meeting of 8/10/00, staff was directed to: 1) ask UF whether they would be interested in assisting to develop a Special Area Plan for Lake Meta; and 2) proceed with Traffic Calming if the neighborhood desires it. Staff contacted various representatives of UF's College of Urban Planning and due to time and funding constraints there appeared to be no interest in assisting with such a project, at this time. On the issue of traffic calming, ballots were sent out to three different areas of Lake Meta and only Area 3 supported traffic calming. The speed humps are scheduled to be installed by March of 2001.
The Public Works Committee directed staff: 1) (City Arborist) to notify Lake Meta Area residents of the City's Treemendous Program; and 2) to contact the property owners to determine the extent of interest in rezoning their properties.
The Public Works Committee recommends the City Commission: 1) receive a final report from staff on Lake Meta Neighborhood Issues; 2) remove this item from the Public Works Committee's active referral list; and 3) refer the policy on front yard parking throughout the City to the Community Development Committee.
