Explanation

As part of the agreement to operate Regional Transit System (RTS) services out of the Oaks Mall parking lot, RTS, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the Oaks Mall agreed to jointly fund refurbishment of the park and ride lot located at the Oaks Mall and used by RTS for park and ride and express bus services to the University of Florida.  RTS has received service development grant funds from the FDOT for this project.  

Fiscal Note

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has sent a joint participation agreement (JPA) to RTS for $20,000 with a 50/50 match by the City of Gainesville Regional Transit System.  The Oaks Mall will be contributing $5,000.  Matching funds are available in the 2001 and 2002 RTS operating budgets to cover the City's share of the JPA.

Recommendation

The City Commission approve the resolution authorizing execution of the joint participation agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
