Purchase of CCTV System for Downtown Parking Garage (B)
Explanation
The Design Build contract with Finfrock for the Downtown Parking Garage did not include the closed circuit television (CCTV) system. CCTV systems are an important part of the overall security design for modern parking garages. The combination of cameras with digital recording technology provides a digital record of activities at critical locations in the structure. The Public Works Department and Gainesville Police Department staffs, along with the CCTV system vendor have jointly designed the CCTV system.
The Parking Garage CCTV system will be a part of the traffic management camera system (the first cameras were installed on SW 13th Street in 2003). It is critical that the CCTV system installed in the Parking Garage use the same components and technology and is totally compatible with the Traffic Management System. Staff, therefore, recommends that the same vendor who supplied the traffic management CCTV system supply the parking garage CCTV system.

Funding for this purchase is available in the Parking Garage Capital Project accounts.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the purchase of the CCTV System for the Downtown Parking Garage from Western Video in the amount of $ 28,703.
