Explanation
Invitations to Bid were sent by Utilities Purchasing to four prospective bidders with three responding, one with no bid. One bid was determined be non-responsive and was not considered for award. Vermeer Southeast Sales & Service's bid is competitive for this type of equipment, therefore; staff is recommending the award of this bid as indicated. A tabulation of the bids received is attached for your reference.
The trencher is an addition to the equipment currently in use in the Gas system and will be used by Line Technician Service Crews to install gas and electric underground services.
Recommendations
The City Commission approve the issuance of a purchase order to Vermeer Southeast Sales & Service, Inc. for the purchase of a trencher with backhoe, transport trailer and offset trencher in an amount not to exceed $39,963.
Fiscal Note
Funding for this purchase is available in the Utility Capital Plant Improvement Fund for the Gas System Operations Division.
