Annual Elevator Maintenance Contract (B)
Explanation
The elevators in the General Government and GRU buildings and facilities require routine maintenance in order to be licensed for operation. The total of eighteen (18) elevators in eight locations are made up of plunger type, hydraulic, traction and man-lifts.
Utilities Purchasing sent an Invitation to Bid to eight (8) contractors in the business of supplying elevator maintenance services. Four (4) contractors did not respond. The four (4) responses were evaluated using the award criteria established in the RFP, which was the total monthly cost for all elevators. A tabulation of the bids is attached for your reference.
Recommendations
The City Commission 1) Authorize the General Manager and the City Manager or their designees to execute a contract with General Elevator Sales & Service, Inc., for the annual maintenance of elevators for a period of three and one-half years, subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality; and 2) Approve the issuance of purchase orders in amounts not greater than the departmental budgets for this service, subject to appropriation of the funds.
Fiscal Note
Funds for these expenses are included in the proposed FY 2002 General Government and GRU operations and maintenance budgets and will be requested in subsequent fiscal year budgets.
