explanation
The City Arborist, Meg Niederhofer, has recommended changes to the approved tree list to make corrections and deletions. These proposed changes would bring the tree list into compliance with the Tree Advisory Board recommendations and good standard arboricultural practices. Some changes merely reflect corrections of spelling errors or inappropriate designation of some species as native. Other changes include the deletion of some tree types and the addition of others as alternatives in categories such as Gateway street trees.
The Plan Board recommends approval of the petition.
Section 30-187(r) of the Land Development Code states that the Gainesville Tree List shall be modified by resolution. Public notice was published in The Gainesville Sun on January 21, 1999. Planning staff recommended to the Plan Board that the petition be approved. The Plan Board approved the petition by a vote of 7-0.
