explanation
The City Commission, at its meeting of April 1, 2010, requested the City Attorney draft a Resolution opposing the proposed Amendment 4 to the Florida Constitution commonly known as the "Florida Hometown Democracy" initiative.
The Commission withdrew the Resolution from the June 3, 2010 agenda through the Revised Modifications List to allow time for the Commission to hear from pro and con speakers on the issue. At the June 3, 2010 City Commission meeting, Lynn Tipton, Membership Director of the Florida League of Cities, gave an informational presentation in opposition to Amendment 4. On June 17, 2010, the City Commission heard an informational presentation from Joyce Tarnow in support of Amendment 4.
At the Mayor's request, this Resolution has been placed on the July 15, 2010 agenda for the Commission's consideration.
