Explanation
On April 4, 2002, the City Commission referred this item to the Community Development Committee. The Community Development Committee has kept this item active for some time as a forum for discussing design review issues, the annual contract with the Florida Community Design Center, and particularly as an opportunity to closely follow, discuss and offer input on the proposed changes to the development review process as that proposal was developed and as it has gone through the City Plan Board petition process.
The proposed changes to the site plan process would change the way neighborhood meetings occur for projects in redevelopment districts and in the special area plan jurisdictions, so the neighborhood meetings would be held at the Florida Community Design Center and would be attended by an architect and landscape architect on contract with the City. The proposed changes would also increase the thresholds of what projects would go before the Development Review Board.
Since that petition has now been through the City Plan Board and reached the City Commission for deliberation, the Community Development Committee views that the item should be removed from its referral list.
