Explanation
The Gainesville-Alachua County Cultural Affairs Board has reviewed and updated the Cultural Plan for Alachua County 2004. The Plan was developed by the Gainesville/Alachua County Cultural Affairs Board under the auspices of the City of Gainesville Department of Cultural Affairs, the Local Arts Agency for Alachua County. The Plan was drafted in 1993, revised in 1998, and revised again in 2004 after a review by individuals and cultural organizations within the Community. The Cultural Plan consists of a Vision Statement, Goals and Objectives, and an invitation from the Cultural Affairs Board to the Community asking them to join in the challenge of making Alachua County an environment that enhances the cultural and economic life of the Community.
The Plan was updated to incorporate the goals from the City's Comprehensive Plan and to include eco-heritage goals. The Plan is used as a reference for evaluating grant applications and as an educational tool.
