This item is a request for the City Commission to authorize the bid award in the amount of $543,700 to Commercial Industrial Corporation for the Duval Stormwater Park Drainage Improvements and Nature Path for construction of a drainage system, stormwater treatment pond, and nature path located between NE 5^th Avenue and NE 8^th Avenue and NE 21^st Street and NE 24^th Street in the Duval Neighborhood.

Explanation

On July 9, 2009, the City Purchasing Division solicited bids for the Duval Stormwater Park Drainage Improvements and Nature Path for construction of a drainage system, stormwater treatment pond, and nature path.  Nine (9) firms responded with bids.  Commercial Industrial Corporation was the lowest responsible and responsive bidder in the amount of $472,758.23.

Fiscal Note

Funding in the amount of $472,758.23 plus a 15% contingency amount for a total of $543,700 is allocated and identified in the following sources for this project: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), DEP Grant Agreement No. G0180 - Duval Neighborhood Stormwater Park, and FDOT Grant for Duval Stormwater Park.

Recommendation

Recommended Motion:  The City Commission:  1) award the bid to Commercial Industrial Corporation for the construction of Duval Stormwater Park Drainage Improvements and Nature Path for construction of a drainage system, stormwater treatment pond, and nature path; 2) authorize the City Manager to execute the contract, subject to approval as to form and legality by the City Attorney; and 3) issue a purchase order in an amount not to exceed $543,700.
